Cuttyhunk gets South Coast plumbers, electricians, roofers, auto shops and marinas more booked jobs by fixing the three places work leaks out: missed calls, a thin Google profile and a phone site that makes quoting hard. Week one we find the leaks, month one we fix them, and then we keep them fixed.

Where the work leaks out

If you run a truck, a shop or a boatyard, some of this will sound like you.

  • “I’m under a sink when the phone rings. By the time I call back, they’ve hired someone else.”
  • “Quote requests come in at 11 at night and sit there until morning.”
  • “The outfit down the road does worse work and has more reviews.”
  • “My Google listing still shows last winter’s hours.”
  • “Word of mouth built this business, but people new in town have never heard of us.”

None of it is about the quality of your work. When a water heater fails at 6 a.m. or a boat needs a haul-out, people call whoever answers first and looks established. Every one of these leaks can be fixed.

A 9 p.m. call is a job. Answer it.

A lot of South Coast work happens after hours. Your phone and your quote form should pick up when you can’t.

How we fix it

Three stages, in this order. You see the plan before we touch anything, and everything we set up is in your name.

  1. Week 1

    Find the leaks

    • We call your number after hours and fill in your own quote form, and write down what a customer actually gets.
    • We check your Google profile against your listings on Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp and Facebook.
    • You tell us the job that earns the most and the towns or harbors you want more of.

You get a one-page fix list in plain words, worst leak first.

  2. Month 1

    Fix them

    • Missed-call text-back on the number you already have.
    • Your Google profile rebuilt: service towns, hours, services, real job photos and a quote link.
    • A quote or booking page that takes a minute on a phone.
    • A review ask that goes out after every finished job.

You get all of it live, with logins you own.

  3. Every month

    Keep it working

    • New job photos and posts on your profile.
    • Every review answered, the one-star too, from drafts you approve.
    • Seasonal pushes: heating tune-ups in the fall, launches and haul-outs, storm cleanup.

You get a short monthly report: calls, texts, quote requests, reviews, and what we changed.

What you get, on a real phone

Here is the work for a made-up shop. Gull Rock Plumbing and Heating is a sample, not a client.

Sample text thread on a phone: a missed call at 7:42 p.m. answered by an automatic text, the customer describing a leaking water heater, and a review request the next day
Text-back and review ask The missed call gets a text in seconds. The finished job gets a review ask.

What changes for you

We do not promise a number of calls. Each month you see the real ones next to last month’s, and so do we.

Before and after Cuttyhunk
Before After
A call at 7 p.m. goes to voicemail, and the caller tries the next number. The caller gets a text in seconds, and you call back when the job is done.
Your listing has old hours and three blurry photos. The right hours and fresh job photos, the same everywhere.
Reviews come in when someone happens to feel like it. Every finished job gets a polite ask, and every review gets an answer.
Quotes arrive by email, voicemail and Facebook, and some get lost. One short form that lands on your phone.
You guess what is working. One page a month shows where the work came from.

Questions owners ask

Do I need a new phone number?

Usually not. In most setups your calls still ring your phone first, and only a call you miss triggers the text. We check your carrier and your setup in week one.

How soon will I see more calls?

The missed-call text and the quote page work the day they go live. Google profile and listing changes can take weeks to show in search. We do not promise a number; every month you see the real calls, texts, quote requests and reviews.

Do I have to sign a long contract?

No. Cuttyhunk is month-to-month. Everything we set up, including the site, the Google profile and the accounts, is in your name from day one, so you keep it if you leave.

Marinas and boatyards too?

Both. A marina or a boatyard loses work the same way a plumber does, so the fixes are the same, tuned to your harbor and your season.

I get my work by word of mouth. Why bother?

Even a referral checks you out first. They search your name and read your reviews. If that check goes badly, the referral calls someone else, and you never hear about it.

See what to fix first.

Tell us your service area and the job that earns you the most, and we send back your fix list!
